Altcoin Season Index, explained
The index is the share of large alts that beat Bitcoin over 90 days. Below 25 is BTC season; above 75 is altseason.
CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index is not a price. It counts how many of the top coins (ex-stables/wrappers) outperformed Bitcoin over the last 90 days.
- 0–24 — Bitcoin season
- 25–74 — transition
- 75–100 — altcoin season
We keep it on the homepage because it answers a question BTC alone cannot: is capital already rotating?
